The women harriers from Plymouth knew they had their work cut out for them going into this very competitive meet. The top 6-8 teams were all vying for the 4 awarded team trophies. Ann Arbor Pioneer literally ran away with first place but the other 3 were very close. Plymouth barely edged out Saline for the 4th place award.
Coach Ahearn’s comments:
“The girls ran pretty well though they were nervous going into this meet. Huron Meadows is a great course and we love to run there but the competition was fierce. I told the girls to give it their best and we would see if it was enough. Saturday it was! Our top 2 runners, (So) Lauren Kiley and (Jr) Londyn Swenson finished in 4th and 6th place overall. Our next 4 runners were a bit further back but close to each other. (Jr) Lindsay Ripple, (Jr) Paige Cristea, (So) Sasha Fox and (Fr) Mariella Ma finished 37th, 40th, 42nd and 46th overall. I would like to see them move up and get even closer to each other but the team is moving in the right direction as we head into the second half of our season and look towards the KLAA conference and MHSAA regional meets.”
