Lady Wildcat runners realized their dream of a TEAM qualification for MHSAA state finals as they finish 3rd at the Region 6, Division 1 race this past Saturday.
Comments from head coach Alice Ahearn:
“The girls executed our plan perfectly. Our “Double ‘L’ Advantage” (freshman Lauren Kiley and sophomore Londyn Swenson) finished 2nd and 6th overall. Lauren had a season PR of 17:59.6 and Londyn was right in her season wheelhouse at 18:37.9. Having these two up front gives our team a huge scoring boost. Our 3rd and 4th scorers further solidified our team states bid by finishing at 17th and 29th overall (Paige Cristea – sophomore – PR time of 19:27.3 and Ana White – senior – PR time of 20:13.5). Our final scorer, sophomore Lindsay Ripple, finished 37th overall, sealing the 3rd team spot with a time of 20:35.6.
The team should be very proud of this accomplishment; the seven that competed in today’s race as well as the rest of the team. Everyone has worked so hard this season to make our team better. Without the whole team on the same page, it’s hard to get to the next level. We look forward to competing at the MHSAA finals this Saturday at MIS speedway.”
