The Plymouth Wildcats Varsity Baseball squad fell in the season opener to South Lyon East in a high-scoring affair, 12-8. Multiple Plymouth players were unavailable for the game due to Spring Break and quarantine protocols.
The Wildcats tallied six runs in the seventh inning, pulling within striking distance but ultimately coming up short. The big inning was driven by a single from Younglas, a single from Benjamin Withem, a fielder’s choice by Marcus Bugeja, and a double by William Holmes.
Tanner Coffey took the loss for Plymouth on the mound. He surrendered seven runs on six hits over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Ryan Campbell started the game for Plymouth on the mound, lasting two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five.
Younglas, Devin Beauchamp, and Holmes each had multiple hits on the day with Younglas leading the way going 3-for-4 at the plate.
The Varsity squad hosts South Lyon tomorrow (Wednesday 3/31) at 4:30 PM at the Varsity field.
