Plymouth Hockey played two games on Saturday, winning both.
The Wildcats faced Forest Hills North-Eastern in Grand Rapids this afternoon, 3-2. All three of Plymouth’s goals were scored by first-time scorers, with Sophomore Chris Borg scoring on a power play in the first. Sophomore assistant captain Gavin Timberlake scored next, early in the second period. Anthony Cassar scored in the third to break a tie, and the Wildcats led the rest of the way. Forest Hills had a chance in the last minute of the game, pulling their goalie while on a power play to go 6-on-4, but goalie Tanner Olepa topped off his stellar performance by killing the power play and securing the Plymouth victory.
After returning to Plymouth, the Wildcats played the Dexter Dreadnaughts on Saturday night. Goalie Meagan Frania played in her first varsity game, playing tremendously, only allowing one goal in the first period. Nolan Eichner was also playing in his first varsity game, earning an assist on Sam Williams’ goal, the first of the game. Anthony Cassar scored for the second time in the day in the first period, giving the Wildcats a lead that they never relinquished. In the second, Jacob Serra scored, making it 3-1. Finally, Jonny Silvester scored in the third to give the Wildcats a 4-1 advantage, which was the final score.
Tonight’s victory gave Plymouth their fourth straight win. They are now 4-2 on the season.
The Wildcats next play on Tuesday, February 23rd, facing Livonia Frankin at 4:00 pm.
