Plymouth High School Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Varsity Girls Lacrosse Head Coach Steven Rooney. Coach Rooney has coached high school lacrosse for 6 seasons. His first lacrosse coaching job, he built the program from scratch, and in year three helped start the girl’s team. He enjoys helping athletes develop and grow to love and respect the sport. He has always tried to make sure that he is available to help the athletes develop on the field, and off, as being a part of a team model has so many aspects of having a successful life.
Coaching the Plymouth girls lacrosse team is an exciting opportunity because the program has been in existence for many years, so instead of having to build the program from scratch, my efforts can be focused on building on the foundations of the previous coaches hard work, and using that foundation as a springboard for long term success.
He looks forward to maximizing the potential of all the players, and the coaching staff so that we can efficiently match our opponent’s weaknesses to our strengths. To accomplish this we need to set team goals, along with coaching, and player goals. This approach will help when we break down our practice into individual, and team skills so that every phase of our game becomes stronger.
Winning isn’t everything, we have to go out and have fun, love what we do, however, winning always makes things more fun.
