Wildcats News · Plymouth Athletics 2018-2019: Raise the Standard

It is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the 2018-2019 Plymouth Athletics Campaign!

As we embark on the next chapter of our school I would like to examine my vision for this year.

In 2017-2018 we embraced the mantra “All in for Plymouth”. This was a call to our stakeholders to band together and support one another. We saw a rise in student leadership and collaboration through our CAATS leadership council. We experienced increased student participation in athletics and activities. We watched thousands of student support each other at events. We embraced coaches reaching out to support one another in competition and training. All of these factors led to personal growth, team success and department culture changes.

In 2018-2019 I would like to shift our collective focus. This year our department mantra will be “Raise the Standard”. This slogan comes from a famous Michael Jordan story. After the final game of his career Michael Jordan was asked “what sets you apart?”, he responded, “every day, I demand more from myself than anybody else could humanly expect. I’m not competing with somebody else. I’m competing with what I’m capable of.” This year let’s work to build on our foundation and raise the standard for what we are capable of as a department. Ask your student-athletes to raise the standard in their school work. Ask your team to raise the standard in off-season training and game preparation. Ask your program to raise the standard for what you consider success.

Last year was a successful year for Plymouth Athletics. We achieved 8 Division Championships, 3 Conference Championships, 3 MHSAA District Championships, 2 MHSAA Regional Championships (5 Regional Final Appearances), 12 All-State Athletes, 1 National Gatorade Player of the Year, and 1 MHSAA State Final Runner-Up.

We will embrace our achievements and utilize our growth mindset.

Buy in, support each other, demand more, embrace the challenge, achieve.
