Boys Varsity Swimming · Plymouth Swimmers Qualify for States

Congratulations to the Plymouth Boys Swim Team!
The Plymouth Swim & Dive team has 7 team members going to the MHSAA state championships.  Our 200 Free relay will compete as well as Ben Kirchoff in diving.  The 200 Free Relay placed 8th at conference just off the qualification time.  We went to Ann Arbor Huron last Tuesday and they just missed the varsity record with a state qualifying time of 1:30.90.  The boys that qualified are junior Eric Knudson, Senior Captain Ethan Byrnes, Senior Captain Logan Kendall, and Senior Captain Brady McWilliams.
The boys got here by improving their time at the Wayne County meet from 1:35 to 1:33.  At the conference championship they went 1:32 in prelims and 1:31.5 in finals.  This put us in a great position for another shot at the last chance meet at Huron.
Ben Kirchhoff qualified for regionals by virtue of his finish at the conference championship.  He competed well at Regionals and took the 12th and final spot for the state championship’s.
Bassil Syed and Joey Samulski will be alternates for the 200 free relay.
This is the first time going to state meet for Eric Knudson, Ben Kirchoff, Bassil Syed, and Joey Samulski.
We are looking to swim faster than the varsity record on Friday at the MHSAA D1 state championships located at EMU.
