On Thursday, May 4th Plymouth Varsity Cheer Athlete Maddie Rutkowski signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Wayne State University this coming Fall. During this ceremony we caught up with Maddie and discussed her experience with PHS Athletics.
Question 1: If you could give any advice to current and future athletes what would you say?
My advice to current and future athletes is to make the most of every opportunity you get because there are no guarantees in life. You don’t want to look back and regret the things you didn’t do because of fear. Reach out, know that there is nothing gained from shrinking in the background, but much to learn from trying!
Question 2: Why did you choose to sign with this university?
My interest in Wayne State initially was an academic one; they offer one of the best physical therapy programs in the state. It was like fate once it was announced who the new cheer coach would be; I couldn’t say no and walk away from a sport that I fell in love with so fast.
Question 3: What will you miss most about being a Plymouth Wildcat?
The number one thing on my list that I would miss about being a Plymouth Wildcat would be the closeness of my coach and my teammates and especially my stunt group. Luckily, I will still get to have my coach by my side to start my new journey cheering competitively for Wayne State University. I want to thank my coaches, teachers, my sister, my family, especially those who are always there in my corner being my biggest fans!
