On a cold, rainy Thursday the Freshmen Plymouth Wildcats put their undefeated record on the line against the 7-1 Stevenson Spartans.
The first quarter saw each team with opportunities, but neither team could capitalize. After 1 quarter the game was still scoreless.
The Wildcats broke the scoreless tie in the second quarter with a 31-yard romp by Logan Walkley. On his way to the end zone Walkley punished Stevenson players breaking several tackles. The 2-point conversion was attempted by Mike Ndakwah, but was stopped short of the goal line. Plymouth up 6-0. The Wildcat defense continued its hard nose play and recovered a fumble on the next possession. The Plymouth offense took over at the Stevenson 20 and Nick Downs followed his offensive line for a 1 yard QB plunge. Mike Mathias put the extra point through putting the Wildcats up 13-0 at the end of the 1st half.
The Wildcat defense continued its tenacious play holding the Stevenson offense scoreless in the 3rd quarter. The Plymouth offense got back on track during its second possession of the 3rd quarter. Mike Mathias took the handoff for a sweep left made one cut behind some great blocking and exploded for a 50-yard TD run! The extra point was no good. Cats up 19-0. The rain helped the Wildcats as the Spartans fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Cats pounced on it. Catâs ball at the Stevenson 30-yard line. 4 plays later, Logan Walkley took the ball on a sweep left 15 yards for the TD. Mike Ndakwah was stopped on the 2-point attempt. Wildcats up 25-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Plymouth scored again the 4th quarter when Van Riley connected with Dylan Strawn for a 14-yard TD pass. Mike Ndakwah was stopped on the 2-point attempt. Plymouth lead 31-0. Stevenson did get a late TD and 2-point conversion. The final score was 31-8.
The Plymouth Wildcats finished the season undefeated at 9-0! Congratulations to all the players, parents and coaches on a great season!
