Cassidy Lewis, a senior on the varsity basketball team (also soccer), scored 14 points to go along with 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and steal in Plymouth’s big win against John Glenn on Senior Night. In a close loss to Canton, Lewis scored 13 points with 6 rebounds and steal. Cassidy was nominated by Coach Ballard, who said: “Cass is being asked to do a lot right now. We ask her to score and rebound every single night. She is also asked to guard the best player on the opposing team on a nightly basis. I’m so impressed with her mental toughness this year. I love her confidence and unwavering belief that we will win every game.”
Emerson Recto, a sophomore on the JV basketball team, had a big week on both ends of the floor. She was the leading scorer in games against John Glenn and Canton, scoring 13 and 16 points respectively. Emerson was nominated by Coach Flaherty, who said: “Emerson had a break out week during both games this week. She was asked to make an impact on the court and stepped up to the challenge. Emerson works hard and it was great to see it start to pay off. I’m excited to see where the remainder of the season takes her.”
Madison Charles, a ninth-grader on the freshmen basketball team, was nominated by coach Lauren Medley due to Madison’s coachability, willingness to give everything to the team, and improvement throughout the season.
Emily Lindbloom, a senior on the pom team, has been on the team for four years and has always been a delight to have. Her dedication to her team showed greatly this weekend as she fought through an illness to perform at State Competition. Emily is always leading her teammates by example and consistently has a positive attitude that was truly exemplified this past weekend. Nominated by coaches Taryn Holowicki, Lauren Fisher, and Christie Wilde.
Korrine Stevens, a ninth-grader on the gymnastics team, was nominated by her coach, Pam Yockey, for an outstanding score on the beam in the Wildcats’ meet against Walled Lake last week.
Road Runner Wildcats of the Week are nominated voluntarily by head coaches weekly.
