The Road Runner Sports Wildcats of the Week are Jenna Ammar, Madison Ray, Zack Wiener, Troy Aikins, Collin Reed, Mike Koski, Jocie Rutkowski, Logan Kendall, Brent Davis, and Hannah Badger.  These athletes can stop by the athletic office for their free t-shirt, courtesy of Road Runner Sports of Canton.

Jenna Ammar, a ninth-grader on the girls JV basketball team, has been working hard to improve her game each and every day. She has adapted to the level of play and speed of the game very well. Jenna is a dependable teammate. She has the “next play” mentality and is always looking at ways to improve.  Nominated by girls JV basketball coach Colleen Flaherty.

Madison Ray, a ninth-grader on the gymnastics team, had a “solid’ all-around performance in the team’s very close loss to Saline on Monday.  Nominated by gymnastics head coach Pamela Yockey.

Zack Wiener, a senior on the hockey team, scored one goal in the Wildcats’ comeback effort against Churchill on Friday, then notched three assists in Plymouth’s 6-2 win over Salem on Saturday night.  Nominated by hockey head coach Gerry Vento.

Hannah Badger, a senior on the varsity basketball team (also varsity soccer), had 4 points, 8 assists, 3 steals and only 1 turnover in Plymouth’s big win over John Glenn last week. In the Canton game, Badger scored 9 points, had 3 steals, and pulled down 5 rebounds in the tough loss. Hannah was nominated by varsity head coach Ryan Ballard, who said, “Badger is a great player, but an even better person. She is such a positive role model for young people to follow. She is the total package excelling in academics, athletics, and leadership.”

Troy Aikins, a 9th grader on the boys freshmen basketball team (also football), had a strong performance against John Glenn and a season-high scoring performance against Canton last week.  Troy also provides tremendous leadership for the team.  Troy was nominated by freshmen boys basketball coach Carl Sumpter.

Collin Reed

Collin Reed, a senior on the wrestling team, went 6-0 last week, including a pivotal 3-0 win against Canton.  Collin was nominated by head wrestling coach Quinn Guernsey.

Mike Koski

Mike Koski, on the boys bowling team, with the his teammate Justin O’Shaughnessy, made the quarterfinals at the Clarenceville Doubles Tournament on Saturday.  Also making the quarters were the girls pair of Jessica Joppich and Liz Nicholson, who (as well as O’Shaughnessy) were Wildcats of the Week earlier this season.

Jocie Rutkowski is a junior on the varsity cheer team. This is Jocie’s first competitive season and she has stepped up in more ways than one. Jocie had no cheer knowledge coming into the year and has turned into an outstanding cheerleader and a key part of this wildcat team. Jocie not only competes in all 3 rounds this season but she is a vocal leader and helps keep the team focused. This weekend Jocie helped her teammates fight their way to a First place finish at the Wyandotte Invitational.  Nominated by head cheer coach Samantha Kerr.

Logan Kendall

Logan Kendall, a sophomore on the boys swim team, is having a breakout year.  He earned second place at the Belleville Tigers Invitational in the 200 IM, perhaps the first time he has swum that event in a high school meet.  Nominated by head swim coach Kenn Forbes.

Senior Brent Davis (varsity boys basketball) (pictured above, photo M. Vasilnek) scored 18 points en route to his team’s victory over host Westland John Glenn on Tuesday, then put up 23 in the team’s hard-fought loss to undefeated Canton on Friday.  Nominated by head varsity basketball coach Mike Soukup.
