The Wildcats of the Week are senior swimmer Allison Lennig, junior football player Darius Timmons, senior volleyball player Danielle Barile, and ninth-grade cross country runner Amelia Carey.
Lennig (pictured above, photo M. Vasilnek) has had a stellar senior season which got even better on Saturday at the KLAA South Division Championship meet (hosted at Westland John Glenn), breaking the KLAA South meet record in the 100 freestyle with a blazing time of 54.61.
Timmons, who has been a standout both at tailback and linebacker this season for the ‘Cats, rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns against Northville in the first round of the MHSAA playoffs. Timmons was recognized by his coaches for the outstanding effort and performance he displayed in Friday night’s game. Dani Barile continued her outstanding senior season last week with a great performance at the River Rats Invitational at Ann Arbor Huron High School. Plymouth did well in the tournament, finally bowing out in the “gold” bracket to Huron, but coach Dave Nichols says that Barile was “really good” all day at the tournament. Amelia Carey, a ninth-grader on the girls cross country team, was praised by head coach Alice A’Hearn for her hard work ethic all season, which is why Carey has set personal records (PRs) in every race except one this season, finishing the season with a 21:01 time at the MHSAA Regional on Saturday.
