This week’s female athletes of the week are basketball player Kendall Rose and gymnast Sara Hosmer. This week’s male athletes of the week are basketball player Randall Aikins and swimmer Garrett Beauprez.
Sophomore Sara Hosmer led the Wildcats with 9.35 on the beam at the Coldwater Stick It For the Cure Invitational. Go Sara!
Senior Kendall Rose hit the game tying three, game winning three, and game-sealing blocked shot in Plymouth’s win over Canton — all in the last 1 minute, 5 seconds of the game! This is Rose’s second time earning an Athlete of the Week award.
Randall Aikins, senior point guard, led the Plymouth Wildcats as they defeated Canton 57-55 Friday night, thanks to a 15 foot-floater from Aikins at the buzzer. Plymouth improved their record to 9-4 and 4-3 in the KLAA South Division. Randall Aikins led the Cats with 19 points and 5 rebounds.
Beauprez, a junior on the Swim/Dive team, dropped 3.94 seconds at the Wayne County Championship, ending up with a time of 1:48.45, qualifying him for the MHSAA D1 state meet and breaking the PHS 200 freestyle record and placing second overall. Following that, Garrett proceeded to drop over 10 seconds in the 500 free. This resulted in a final standing of 4:57 and another 2nd place finish at Wayne County.
